More than 1,3 million seed samples from around the world have been added to the Svalbard Global Seed Vault. The seed samples come from over 100 genebanks and over 6,000 plant species are represented. The database that catalogs all gene banks, deposits and seed samples is called the Seed Portal and is maintained by NordGen.
The Seed Portal is freely available for anyone to search. You can access it via the button below. In the Seed Portal anyone can search among the seed samples, species and genera stored in the Seed Vault. The Seed Portal can also be used by depositing genebanks to upload accession lists and contact NordGen.
