Plant a seed – and support NordGen

Here is your chance to make someone happy while supporting NordGen’s work and mission! For Christmas 2018 NordGen has launched a gift box with seeds from old vegetable varieties from the Nordic countries. Included in the gift is a donation to NordGen’s work with conservation and sustainable use of plants and seeds.

  The gift box come in 2 versions. The local with 2 seed bags from one of the Nordic countries or the Nordic with 5 seed bags representing all 5 Nordic countries. Choose between bush tomato and cabbage from Norway, carrots and dill from Sweden, kale and radish from Denmark, turnip and cumin from Finland or angelica and turnip from Iceland. Included in the gift box is a donation certificate, descriptions of the plants and guidelines on how to grow them – all in your own Nordic language.  

Why seeds?

The Nordic countries are facing a near future with climate changes and a need for plants with new properties. The seeds that we keep in NordGen’s gene bank contain possibilities to develop new plants that adapt better to the climate of the future. When you buy a gift box with seeds, you support NordGen’s work with conservation and sustainable use of plants and seeds. When you plant these seeds, you contribute to the conservation of our common Nordic heritage.
