Endangered coastal heathlands may be preserved by supporting an ancient land management technique which combines grazing and burning. In Norway, a study "Old Norse Sheep in Coastal Heath" combines the development of Old Norse sheep farming into sustainable agriculture and the management and preservation of the coastal heathlands.
