Theodorus Meuwissen, professor in bioinformatics in the department of animal and aquacultural sciences at NMBU, has been awarded the 2016 John J. Carty Award for the Advancement of Science by the National Academy of Sciences, Washington, USA, on his pioneering work on genomic selection. He will receive this recognition jointly with Michael Goddard, professioral fellow in animal genetics at the University of Melbourne. This prize is awarded in the fields of biology, medicine and agriculture. It is worth noting that it is 20 years ago since this recognition was given in the field of agriculture!
