Fire in Alnarp - NordGen not affected
During the night to Wednesday, a large building belonging to the Swedish Agricultural University (SLU) in Alnarp caught fire. The building is totally destroyed but the fire department has managed to prevent the flames from spreading to the many buildings close by. NordGen's head office, situated a few hundred meters away, is not affected.
The fire alert reached the police early Wednesday morning, at 04.05. For the time being, the fire department is still in Alnarp, making sure the fire doesn't blaze up again. NordGen's head office is situated in campus Alnarp, a few hundred meters from the fire. We cooperate with representatives from the University in several different project and working groups. "Our thoughts are now with our colleagues and all the students at SLU. Although an important building for our cultural heritage is now gone forever, we are happy that no one got hurt and that the fire didn't spread to the other buildings at the University", says Lise Lykke Steffensen, Executive Director at NordGen. Police has barred the area and will in due time commence a technical investigation. According to the head master, the start of the new term will not be affected by the fire.
